WE’RE SEEKING APPLICANTS FROM EXCLUDED BACKGROUNDS INTERESTED IN BREAKING INTO PUBLISHING.

Inkluded Academy is a tuition-free publishing course taught by industry professionals that aims to educate and help place publishing aspirants from typically underrepresented groups into the industry. Held over the course of eight Saturdays in the summer, the program includes a rigorous curriculum, invested mentoring, and a commitment to job placement. The curriculum covers the foundational aspects of agenting, editorial, publicity, marketing, sales, scouting, production, and subsidiary rights. Each participant will receive career counseling, one-on-one sessions, and guidance from a mentor. Inkluded Academy aims to be a much-needed pipeline between the book business and aspiring professionals from diverse backgrounds.

DETAILS FOR SUMMER 2024 APPLICATIONS

1. You must be at least 18 years old to apply.

2. You permanently reside in the tri-state area (New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut) and can commute into New York City.

3. The program will be held between July 11th, 2024 and September 7th, 2024, starting with Orientation Night on July 11th and consisting of eight six-hour sessions every Saturday (except Saturday, September 1st, 2024) and two Thursday evening sessions. Each Saturday session is from 10am-4pm Eastern Standard Time, and Thursday sessions run from 7pm-9pm Eastern Standard Time.

4. Students must be available to attend each of the 8 sessions and 3 evening sessions in their entirety.

5. All participants will receive a $500 stipend upon completion of the course.

6. The curriculum consists of lectures, discussions, Q & A, practical instruction, and assignment review.

7. The deadline to apply is 11:59pm EST on May 26th, 2024, with final decisions made by June 26th, 2024.

8. Except for Orientation Night and the Capstone Presentation, the 2024 Summer Academy will be held remotely.
